This cute little 2-year-old pug was hit by a car and got a shattered pelvis and broken legs. I found him on the side of the road, not able to walk, dirty, covered in fleas, and banged up. I realized he was in a bad place and needed to act immediately. After bringing him to the closest vet, they found he was chipped and had an owner which we tried to contact and couldn't. I went ahead with the X-rays and they found a shattered pelvis and 2 broken back legs. Once I finally got ahold of the owner, she couldn't make it because of work. She then texted me she had come to the decision to abandon him over potential surgery costs. She didn't even come to say goodbye.
After leaving the vet with dewormer, pain medicine, and anti-inflammatories, I took him straight to an emergency pet hospital that was 1.5 hours away because it would be the lowest price, based on the Vet's suggestion. From there, more X-rays were done and blood work was taken and they finally recommended leg amputation because they said his breaks had been multiple days old. I brought him home today, and the surgery itself cost $2839.03 and the costs are mounting for precare and aftercare.
Thank you for reading this and any help you can send to share the costs for this sweet boy.
