Help Zora's Daughters Remain Accessible

Donation protected
Hi,

We are Alyssa and Brendane, and we are the Black anthropologists behind Zora's Daughters, a podcast  that follows the legacy of Zora Neale Hurston. We are two award-winning, first-generation Black women PhD students who bring a critical anthropological lens to race, politics, and popular culture. Our podcast uplifts the voices and experiences of Black women with diverse backgrounds with the goal of making this world a better place for all of us

As graduate students, we do not have the funds to pay out-of-pocket for accurate transcription services. Usually, we do all of the research, editing, and transcription ourselves, but that is a burden on our time and personal resources. We love what we do, and we want to continue to create accessible, high-quality content.

This fundraiser is for our first season and will allow us to remain accessible to all audiences -- not only because we break down academic terms and concepts to make them easy to understand, but also because we provide transcripts of each of our episodes for deaf and/or hard-of-hearing audiences. Everyone should have the ability to access content they enjoy without the influence of advertisers. We want to continue this work by paying fair wages to a Black woman for her transcription services.

We call on you, our community of support, to help us! 100% of the funds raised will go towards paying a Black woman community member. We want to hire someone immediately, so we need the funds as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help!
