Hi, my name is Aisha. I'm a disabled Black trans woman originally from Ohio.
Just before my final semester of grad school, I caught COVID and my life completely changed. Since the infection, I have experienced persistent trouble breathing that has significantly impacted my daily life. Previously simple activities like grocery shopping, doing laundry, and going up stairs have become arduous tasks that leave me gasping for air to breathe. I've been to numerous doctor's appointments, gone through EKGs, echocardiograms, x-rays, and more blood tests than I can count with few answers to show for it and even less relief. What I thought would only be a few weeks of recovery has turned into months as I continue to struggle over a year after my initial infection.
Earlier this year, I graduated school and I am currently out of work, unsure of how I will support myself or pay the overwhelming costs of my continuing medical care. I am raising funds to help with basic essentials, medication, and transportation as well as rent and bills. Grateful for any support you are able to provide.
