Support a Trans Woman of Color's Move to a Vibrant New Home

Hi y’all! I am sharing this campaign on behalf of my friend Aggy who is a trans woman of color living in Brattleboro, VT. This campaign represents an opportunity to support an incredible human, who has done so much to organize and show up for community in our region, feel community now rally around her as she dares to believe in the life that she dreams of for herself and her partner. After living in Brattleboro and the Pioneer Valley for many years, Aggy is boldly acting on her readiness for a new chapter in her life, surrounded by a fresh, QTPOC affirming community, and is preparing to move herself and her partner to Portland, Maine!

Aggy has been deeply involved for many years in the underground DIY music scene in New England, and has worked tirelessly to support and showcase bands featuring bipoc and lqbtqia+ members and to use DIY music to create safe and inclusive spaces that gather together queer folks and allies to celebrate, resource and empower queer joy. Most recently Aggy has been a part of organizing the “Girrrls To the Front” initiative, a multi-venue collaboration creating greater access and opportunity for women and non-binary musicians by centering their artistry at live music events. Aggy has also been a big part of booking shows and staffing events at the Stone Church, southern Vermont’s premier music venue, and was an instrumental part of organizing queer community and DIY events through the Buoyant Heart collective in Brattleboro.

As a trans woman of color, Aggy has overcome innumerable obstacles to consistently show up as an organizer of safe and inclusive community spaces. She is now ready for the next chapter in her life as she and her partner ready themselves to move to Portland, Maine. Portland represents a new community with the kind of robust support network, inclusivity and representation that Aggy and her partner are seeking to support them in creating their new home. There is a true excitement and aliveness they are feeling about what this new chapter will hold for them, the sense of freedom they feel in it, and the expansiveness that this new space will offer them.

I am reaching out to queer community and allies to ask you to support an incredible human in stepping into the next chapter of her life that will position her to feel safe, well-supported, and surrounded by inclusion and representation that will further nourish her heart and her own expansive and vibrant aliveness in the world. Even if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign on your social media and spreading the word goes such a long way to helping Aggy and her partner achieve their goals. It also will support them both in feeling deeply well loved and seen by community for the beautiful humans that they are, and to fortify their belief that they deserve to live the life of safety and joy that they dream of for themselves.

Breakdown of Financial Costs:

Aggy and her partner intend to move to Portland the first week of July. The following are the expenses they will incur and are seeking support in meeting in order to ensure a successful and sustainable move that also helps set them up to start from a place resilience as they step into this new chapter:

Moving van rental and mileage: $400

First, last and security for their new apartment: $6400

Two weeks living expenses while she transitions jobs: $1200

Total: $8000
