Support a Beloved Artist and Teacher on Her Road to Recovery

We are Maryjo's children, Wendy, Sunny, Jonathan, and Deorie. We are organizing this fundraiser on her behalf to help support her during recovery.

Our beloved Mother Maryjo Koch has spent a lifetime capturing the beauty of the natural world through her exquisite illustrations. As a devoted naturalist and passionate teacher, she’s inspired generations of artists through weekend classes at her Bonny Doon studio—many of whom see her not just as an instructor, but as a mentor and creative spark in their lives.

Recently, her health took a serious turn. After a 10-day hospital stay due to a severe leg infection and ongoing pain, she was admitted to a post-acute rehabilitation facility to begin the slow and necessary process of healing. She’s now back home with continued home care service and therapy.

While she focuses on recovery, her ability to teach and generate income is limited. Yet, her living expenses—including her mortgage and out-of-pocket medical costs—continue. Her classes have long helped supplement these needs, but at this time, she needs help.

We’re reaching out to friends, family, former students, and anyone touched by her work. Your support will help ease the financial burden during this critical phase of healing—and allow her to focus fully on regaining her strength, with the hope of returning to the art and teaching that bring her—and so many others—joy.

This is more than a fundraiser. It’s a tribute to the difference she’s made through her art, and a way to stand by her as she recovers.
