When I reflect on my 30 years of playing basketball (7 year's professionally) | am hesitant to refer to myself as an "athlete". I was and still am competitive, but what I most enjoyed was being able to express myself artistically. That is the word or title that makes sense to me now, artist.
The very first thing I did when I retired from professional basketball was take a introductory film course in Seattle, Washington and since then l've been on a journey to blend the worlds that mean so much to me.
I've had a few stops during my journey and one of them included becoming a teacher, mostly to elementary school students. I learned a lot about myself through my experiences with them and I truly believe I have impacted them positively as well.
A more current stop on this journey landed me in in Paris, France (where I once played) and I'm currently working on a project that will essentially explore what basketball means to young people in the France.
The project is a documentary short titled " UNE QUESTION POUR VOUS" ( A question for you ) which will be featured on my website Ballshorts.com (not public just yet but coming soon) - a website that features basketball-related short films.
With your support I plan to bring together the worlds that I am very familiar with and share insights that will perhaps help you with your own personal journeys.
Thank you.
