Support a baby Thia memorial garden & unexpected expenses

Donation protected
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to support the creation of a memorial garden in Thia’s honor and to assist with unexpected expenses.

Cynthia “Thia” Josephine Boyd, was born on August 25, 2024, and passed away peacefully from her parent’s arms into the arms of Jesus Thursday, September 26, 2024, under hospice care.

Thia entered this world at home to her loving parents Garrett and Julia (Nuss) Boyd, a beautiful baby girl, measuring 21 inches long and weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces. Though perfect in every way, Thia was born with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a rare condition that affects two in 1,000 full-term births due to a lack of oxygen and restricted blood flow during the birth process. HIE is undetectable and occurs in hospitals and home births alike. Following her birth, she was rushed to Munson NICU and soon airlifted to the NICU at the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Thia was so strong, continuously bringing hope to those around her and surpassing many milestones displaying God’s miraculous healing power.

Thia only knew love and connection. Her parents held her all day long, singing worship music, and one of her favorites, “Jesus Loves Me”. As a family, they read about Jesus and His promises of their eternal future together. Before Thia went to be with Jesus, she and her parents spent time at a peaceful park watching her first and only sunset together. Though their time with Thia was far too brief, they will always cherish these precious memories and never forget their beautiful baby girl and first born.

Thia is survived by her loving parents Garrett and Julia, grandparents Ward and Janet Boyd, aunts and uncles Jeremy Nuss, Jason Nuss, Jacob Nuss, Jessica (Caleb) Gerhard, Jordan (Fiancé Michelle) Nuss, Cole Boyd and Madison (Chase) Boyd, 14 cousins, great-grandparents Richard and Darlene Nuss, and so many family and friends who were so excited to meet her.

She was joyfully greeted in Heaven by her Grandma Cynthia and Grandpa Jerry Nuss, her uncle Joe Nuss, great-grandparents Vernon and Josephine Boyd, Allen Jones, Jacklyn Kaiser, Robert Hoover, Irma Zavala, and Millie Nuss.

To honor Baby Thia a memorial service will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, in the peaceful gardens of Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (EST) with a service immediately following. Baby Thia will be laid to rest during a private family service at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Friends and family unable to attend can watch at rjfh.tv or by following the link on her website for the recording.
