UPDATE 11/18/24: Thanks to fundraising support, A's immediate needs (food, clothes, etc.) were able to be met in the past several weeks. Going into the winter, we are starting a second round of fundraising to support A. because UChicago CONTINUES to bar him from his dorm. A. is a low-income student, and he now needs to pay for a new alternative housing and food while we fight this illegal eviction.

URGENT Fundraiser for Evicted Pro-Palestine and Arab Student!

~Funds are going to immediate needs, as he has been removed from his housing & meal plan. UCPD allowed him to only pack 1 backpack, so he also needs money for clothes and other necessities.~

On October 21, 2 Deans and 2 UCPD officers showed up at student A.'s door. They gave him just minutes to pack up a backpack before removing him from his dorm, leaving him homeless. Admin placed him on an involuntary leave of absence for his participation in a pro-Palestine protest at UChicago on October 11, during which police attacked protestors, beat students with batons, mass pepper-sprayed, and drove a squad car into a crowd. They also threatened him with arrest if he returned to campus.

October 11 was A.'s first time going to a protest at UChicago.

Now, UChicago has forced him out of his home, threatened him with arrest for just being on campus, and cut off his access to his meal plan, imposing an unjust, unlawful sanction on this student in violation of its own policies and state law.
