I am a scientific researcher and AIDS advocate and a person living with HIV for 40+ years. I submitted several abstracts and an application for a scholarship to the upcoming International AIDS Conference in Kigali Rwanda. It is a dream of mine to be on the continent where the virus I have been living with for all these many years originated. I am 62 and HIV has been my companion for all these many years. I am blessed to be here because the early years were dark with limited treatment and many deaths. My abstracts and scholarship was not accepted unfortunately. Although they did have over 4,000 applicants so many more did not receive help to attend.
