Earlier this month, our family experienced something we never expected.
On February 3rd, my father-in-law Rod began having weakness in his legs. Over the following weeks, walking became more difficult. He started dragging his leg and fell several times. He was seen by doctors, but stroke was not suspected because he didn’t show the typical signs like facial drooping or slurred speech.
By February 17th, his condition had worsened. When asked a simple question, his words came out confused and jumbled. It was clear something was very wrong.
He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a large brain bleed on the left side of his brain (a subdural hematoma).
He was airlifted to Swedish Hospital in Denver for emergency treatment. Doctors determined the bleeding had likely been happening for some time and had already begun causing a dangerous shift in his brain.
He underwent emergency surgery to relieve the pressure, followed by a second surgery the next day.
After surgery, he faced additional complications, including time on a ventilator and a severe reaction to a medication that caused throat swelling so significant he was unable to swallow. During recovery, he became extremely weak and required assistance to move safely.
He is now in rehabilitation and making progress, which we are incredibly thankful for.
However, this journey has come with overwhelming financial strain.
Between emergency air transport, ICU care, multiple surgeries, hospital stays, and ongoing rehabilitation, the medical expenses continue to grow. In addition, their home now needs modifications and deep cleaning to make it safe for his return and to support both of them during recovery.
We are asking for support to help with:
• Medical expenses
• Rehabilitation and therapy
• Home safety modifications
• Necessary deep cleaning to create a safe living environment
Any help is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to give, prayers and sharing this page mean just as much.
Thank you for supporting our family during this difficult time.
