Support Phil after losing his home in the Eaton fire

Donation protected
I’m putting together this fundraiser for my friend Phillip De Avila-Molina who has been writing these pages for others but needs help himself!

I know Phil from my time with him at the Zorthian Ranch, his home for the past 10 years, where he is one of quiet backbones of the place. As others pass through, Phil’s presence is steady, doing the jobs no one else wants to do, on repeat: trash collecting, scrapping, brush cutting, tire patching, the glamour-less work that keeps a place afloat. He's the kind of guy who magically appears when you’re in a bind, helps you out of it, and never asks anything in return. He knows when you need support even when you don’t know it yourself. Phil is a super talented fixer of things, mad scientist, lover of animals, with a heart of gold AND heavy metal.

Here’s what Phil has to say:

“They told me to make a gofundme so here it is.

Hi! My name is Phillip, but you can call me “Phil.” Up until about two weeks ago I was living a simple life on an art ranch in Altadena, Ca known as Zorthian Ranch. I lived where I worked and I loved where I lived. It may not have been luxurious living, or even as comfortable as most people would prefer, but it was my home. A place where my neighbors, coworkers, family, and friends were all one and the same. Where artists of every kind, from all walks of life, and at every level converged to form a community unlike any other. Where an air bnb guest or a newlywed couple could become my newest lifelong friends. The same place where, for the last 10 years I had built a life full of adventure and love that I shared with my good boy, Chappie (who fought a bear once, but who was also afraid of bubbles). A place that, like many others, was destroyed in the Eaton fires. All the hills and trees and homes that kept the memory of him alive are now gone. All of my instruments, photographs, books, and clothes are now all just ashes and soot.

But life goes on.

I’ll use the funds to pay my car insurance and maybe the next couple months rent.”

Phil loved his home, and now it’s gone. Please considering supporting him in this uncertain time.
