Help Penni Heal: Support Her Surgery & Recovery

If you know Penni, you know she gives with her whole heart, fostering and taking care of many pets, rescue pups, and people!

Now, Penni needs us.

She’s facing two major surgeries: a hernia repair and a full hysterectomy. These are critical for her health and well-being—but without health insurance, the medical costs are overwhelming. She’ll also need time to rest and recover without the added stress of bills piling up.

After experiencing pain and inability to work comfortably from an umbilical hernia, we took her to the emergency room and found out that she has an umbilical hernia that needs repaired but the underlying cause is a very enlarged fibrous uterus that is equivalent to a pregnant uterus size and will need a full hysterectomy via Cesarean Section because it is taking up all the room and causing the hernia to not be able to be reduced completely.

We’re hoping to raise around $8,000 to help cover:

Surgery and hospital expenses

Follow-up care and medication

Living expenses during recovery

Penni has spent her life giving—caring for people and animals alike. This is our chance to take care of her.

She has already incurred $3,400 for an ultrasound and a CT scan at the emergency room that we will hopefully be able to make payment arrangements for. She has also paid $612 for office visits in the last 2 weeks.

As of Monday, April 7th, 2025 she will be required to pay $3,239 for another ultrasound and biopsy that is at the self-pay price at the clinic to be paid within 3 weeks, with $1,000 due on the 7th. She has another $250+ office visit the following week on April 16th with the general surgeon for the hernia repair surgery to try to plan surgery so that both the hernia and full hysterectomy via cesarean section can be done at the same time.

Also, whenever the surgery is able to be scheduled, Penni will have to be off work for 6-8 weeks to fully heal so as not to re-injure herself. As some of you know, she is the only groomer in our Pet Grooming Salon and, in turn, we will have to be closed and completely out our income in that timeframe. Being closed for 6-8 weeks can mean the end to most small businesses and we do not want to see this happen to us.
