Hi, I'm Jennie, Lilly's soon-to-be stepmom.
As some of you may know,
On April 17, Lilly Hall was involved in a devastating car accident on the Massachusetts Turnpike while on her way to work. Her vehicle ended up pinned beneath a tractor-trailer, requiring emergency crews to extract her from the wreckage. She was airlifted to UMass by medical helicopter and immediately underwent two critical surgeries.
Lilly suffered a C4 burst fracture, along with other serious injuries including an occipital condyle fracture and damage to her cervical vertebral artery. Doctors placed a coil in the artery and performed an anterior cervical surgery to stabilize the area with grafts and hardware. They also completed a C4 laminectomy and posterior fusion from C3 to C5.
She is currently relying on an ET tube to breathe and an OG tube for nutrition. Her diaphragm remains too weak for independent breathing, so a tracheostomy and feeding tube (PEG) are planned to provide longer-term support. These steps are necessary to give her the best shot at rehabilitation and recovery.
Unfortunately, Lilly also developed pneumonia while in the ICU, adding another challenge to her already complex condition. Her father, Jon, has been by her side every step of the way. Despite living over 45 minutes to an hour from the hospital, he's been fiercely advocating for the best possible care, rehab options, and support systems.
Right now, Lilly is alert and able to respond to voices by blinking or nodding. She has some movement in her right arm and can shrug her shoulders, although she has no feeling below her chest. The hope is that, with time and the right rehab team, she will regain additional function as her body heals from the trauma and surgeries.
We are incredibly grateful that Lilly survived, that her brain was unharmed, and that she’s able to mouth words. Anyone who knows Lilly knows she’s a fighter—resilient, determined, and full of spirit. She’s facing a long road ahead, but with God, prayer, love, therapy, and community support, there’s hope.
All funds raised will help cover Lilly’s ongoing medical expenses, equipment, therapy, and long-term care. Your prayers, good thoughts, and generosity mean the world as she begins this tough journey. We're so thankful Lilly is alive
