Alec's mother, Jeannette Tejeras, suffered a sudden stroke and remains in the hospital, unconscious and fighting for her recovery. Jeannette was taking care of her 86-year-old mother, so now both of those burdens fall on Alec and his young brothers, Noah and Caleb.
