Support Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), Pakistan
Donation protected
Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), a registered Non-Profit organisation, is Pakistan's oldest and most active grassroots-level science awareness movement. Since 1996, we have arranged a kaleidoscope of educational activities — glimpses of which can be seen on our website.
We warmly invite you to support KSS in creating the Lahore Science Foundry (LSF)—an Interactive Science Museum envisioned as a vibrant hub of knowledge and discovery. This ecosystem of scientific learning and engagement is a vital resource, yet one that is currently missing from Pakistan’s educational and cultural landscape.
Your contribution can help bring this transformative project to life!

What is Lahore Science Foundry (LSF)?
KSS is investing all of its efforts into realising our idea of a transformative shared Science Exploration Centre for Pakistan’s educational sector (Schools to Universities), that we label as the Lahore Science Foundry (LSF).
A detailed concept note can be accessed here: Proposal , however, please find a brief description below.
- Lahore Science Foundry will be a physical laboratory space, an interactive science museum, and a shared asset, furnished with modern, state-of-the-art equipment and consumable supplies.
- The LSF will possess the following hubs: a Scientific Instrument Development Cell (a resource-rich workspace to create indigenous tools for scientific discovery); a Science Engagement cell that holds workshops and teacher trainings; a Public Observatory; a Public Laboratory (schools can book a Lab); a Science Museum (Surpriseum); a facility for School Labs Development which are of two kinds. Phenomenon Labs help to understand natural processes and Design Labs enable students to design and create new articles. Finally, the LSF will conduct the Lahore Science Mela, (which is Pakistan’s largest citizen science festival) and will house a Multimedia Studio (for scientific content development).

What can your donations help achieve?
Your donations will contribute to several important initiatives:
- Setting up laboratories in schools: Establishing “Phenomenon Labs,” inquiry-based science labs in schools, particularly government and public-sector institutions. Developing low-cost, locally-sourced experimental setups and instruments to equip schools and research institutions across the country.
- Science Engagement: Organizing interactive science shows, mini-Science Melas, and the grand Lahore Science Melas to inspire and educate people of all ages, especially in underserved areas.
- Scholarships: Incentivizing the Human Resources, including science communicators, equipment builders, science demonstrators, volunteers, and other key personnel, to cover up travel and related expenses, enabling them to pursue their dreams. In 2023, around 1 Million PKR were dedicated to support travel expenses of some of the Mela Participants including out-of-school-children (OOSC) from TAKMIL, orphanages, and other under-represented schools.
- Infrastructure Cost: Helping to create a science museum, contributing to the construction of public laboratories, maker spaces, and public observatories.
- Overheads: Covering the expenses related to rental space and other utilities
- Science Melas 2025: After a brief hiatus in 2024 due to limited funding, KSS is set to organise Science Melas in 2025. Your donations will enable us to organize this vibrant celebration of science.
