'I GOT YOU!' is a short documentary about Miss T, the crossing guard of a local neighborhood in Bed-Stuy, whose daily acts of kindness have quietly held a diverse community together for over 22 years. Through humor, strength, and deep compassion, she transforms a Brooklyn corner into a place of joy and belonging. For generations, Miss T (Tanya Thomas) has greeted every child by name, remembered their birthdays, and watched them grow. Behind her warmth lies a tragic history of loss, abandonment and foster care. This film reveals how one woman’s resilience can inspire healing and unity.
Fellow community members, director / producer Corinne van der Borch (Wondertime Films) and illustrator / animator Edwina White are the creative forces behind this documentary. Some of you have already seen us in action on the corner of Monroe and Tompkins where we have spent a whole school year panning for golden moments with our dear protagonist. Some of you (and your dogs) will be in the film- so stay tuned. Currently we have a rough cut that we want to polish. We’re now in the position to raise funds to cover post production costs, including final editing, color correction, sound mix, music rights, sound design, soundtrack, animation, title design, and outreach efforts such as applying to film festivals and organizing local community screenings. With your support, we can finish the film to a professional standard and share Miss T’s story with a wider audience from the local school, Herbert von King Park on to national and international film festivals - ideally inspiring acts of kindness and unity. All additional funds will go directly to Miss T.
Miss T inspires us every day to show up for each other, no matter the weather or the challenges we face. This holiday season, let her be your inspiration to give in a different way. If you do contribute ANY amount- we promise to include the name of the benefactor whether it is the name of your dog, your child, your grandma or yourself in the credit sequence. Please make sure to contact me so we know who to credit.
And let’s all join in Miss T's famous Friday dance together, at our premiere screening.
Thank you,
Edwina and Corinne
