Hello everyone,
I was so excited to graduate from college with a BA in Media in May of 2023 after 5 long years of hard work. I had so much taken from me when I woke up one morning in early 2024 with Optic Neuritis (damage to my optic nerve that caused a full month of disabling vision issues and life long vision damage) and had to be rushed to the hospital. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and hospitalized for multiple days to receive high dose IV steroids (the only current medical treatment for MS). Since then, my disease has progressed including a possible POTS diagnosis (issues with my heart and spiking heart rate) and needing to use a cane most of the time to get around. Recently, I was unjustly let go from a job I had worked for four years. We've been struggling financially for a while due to my health, and losing my job has only made worse. I'm reaching out to my community members to ask for financial help for both rent/bills and to help me get some things to help with my disability (Rollator, Apple watch/Fitbit to monitor heart, etc.) Please share this out if you're unable to donate, I really appreciate any help that you can provide. Thank you <3
For those who don't know much about it, Multiple Sclerosis is a brain/autoimmune disease that is degenerative. Degenerative diseases are chronic, progressive conditions causing the gradual breakdown, loss of function, or deterioration of cells, tissues, or organs. When the body experiences a flare up of Multiple Sclerosis the brain is left with damaged neurons and difficulty with basic functions (movement, speech, cognition, temperature regulation, etc.) that unfortunately can't be healed. There are medications for people with MS but there is no cure yet.
