Help Ryan Fight Cancer and Support His Family Through Recovery

Hi everyone,

It’s incredibly difficult for us to ask for help, but we’ve reached a point where we can’t do this alone. As many of you may know, Ryan Wells was diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer in 2023. Initially, what started off as a small bump turned into something larger and opened itself up. From the photos you can see that although it tried to heal, beneath the layers there was decay. Multiple biopsies confirmed several basaloid tumors across his body. In July 2023, he underwent MOHs surgery to remove the cancerous tissue, and while we hoped that would be the end of it, one tumor—the largest—has since returned and worsened.

Although the other tumors healed, this one has continued to grow and break down surrounding tissue, leading to a serious infection. His doctor has now changed his diagnosis from basaloid tumor to Malodorous Cancer. Ryan is currently on medication to treat the bacterial infection inside the wound, but it has become clear that surgery is urgently needed. Doctors have told us that if the cancer is not surgically removed soon, the infection could spread to his bloodstream and cause further complications.

Unfortunately, Ryan’s situation is made even more challenging by a recent layoff that resulted in the loss of his full insurance coverage. While his temporary insurance will cover part of the upcoming procedure, we’re still waiting on the financial estimate from his surgical consult on Thursday, June 5. In the meantime, Ryan will be unable to work during recovery, and his spouse is currently on unpaid maternity leave after her own recent surgery.

We’re asking for help to cover urgent medical costs and basic household expenses. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Ryan’s surgery, follow-up care, and helping our family stay afloat during this difficult time. We’ll be sharing updates, receipts, and clinic statements along the way so you can see exactly where support is going.
