My birthday wish: Hope for trafficked girls in Bolivia
Tax deductible
Hi everyone! My name is Andrea Teran Barrientos, and to celebrate my birthday this year I’m raising money for a cause that, as some of you already know, means a lot to me.
A few weeks ago, I took my daughters to see the movie Lilo & Stitch. They loved it! What stood out to me was one word: Ohana. A quick Wikipedia search explains this: “In Hawaiian culture, ʻohana means family, but its meaning extends beyond just immediate blood relatives. It encompasses a broader sense of community, belonging, and unconditional love”. The phrase from the Disney movie perfectly captures this definition: "ʻOhana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten". How deep and beautiful, right?
Ohana is precisely what Amparo (https://amparobolivia.org/) represents for girls that have suffered unimaginable abuse and neglect in vulnerable neighborhoods in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Every girl that arrives to Amparo is seen past the dark circumstances they had gone through but with the eyes of Jesus that offers them restoration and hope. Every girl is deeply loved and cared for during the long journey of healing from the trauma of trafficking. Amparo is a family bounded by the love of God who sustains both staff serving tirelessly and selflessly and volunteers who walk along these brave girls and become their Ohana. Would you join me today in supporting Amparo’s family?
All donations will be sent directly to Amparo (Acts 2024 Inc is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in the US) whose mission is to end child sexual explotation in Bolivia, and will cover operating expenses of their Prevention and Restoration programs. In addition to providing shelter and psychological support, both programs offer academic enrichment, English language classes, extracurricular activities and Christian faith discipleship.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward and reach those who need it most.
If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to me.
May God bless you all!
