Back Story:

Since 2006, Ben Brown has viewed his life as a "bonus round," fostering a deep sense of gratitude and purpose. He has intentionally pursued a life valuing growth, faith, and connection over traditional achievements. Recognizing that life is a series of "peaks and valleys," he has shifted from chasing highs to embracing discomfort, understanding that "true growth happens in discomfort."

Ultrarunning serves as a powerful metaphor for life's challenges, where the struggle of the "valley" reveals inner strength and transformation. In his upcoming race, Ben intends to confront hardship with "faith, love, humility, and kindness," extending this compassion especially to his supporters.

His core message to others is to "embrace adversity as a teacher." He emphasizes that everyone encounters valleys in life, and rather than avoiding them, facing these challenges builds genuine character and depth, a stark contrast to those who only pursue easy victories.

On November 1, 2025, Ben Brown will participate in the Roosters Backyard Ultra Marathon at Rohr Park in Chula Vista, California. This marks the second edition of the event, where runners will push their limits, potentially surpassing the previous record of 27 yards. The race is known for its runner-friendly, hard-packed, smooth trail, featuring a single, small hill that was well-received by participants in the inaugural event. Last year's top runner completed 112 miles. The race is a "last man/woman standing" event, anticipated to last between 24 and 72 hours.
