Support 3HAMS' Journey to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Donation protected
3HAMS , a play by Mākena Miller and Charlie Traisman, is headed to the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

After touring in NYC, 3HAMS will head to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer under the direction of Billie Aken-Tyers (Associate Director, Titanique). By showcasing the show to new audiences and having the opportunity for industry review, the festival will serve as a launching pad for the production.

The team of 3HAMS is raising funds to cover costs for their time in Edinburgh. All funds raised will go towards artist stipends, travel, housing, theater rental, and publicity.

Any size contribution makes a difference! Thank you for considering. We appreciate your support!
***Donations of $1000+ will be offered a producing credit, as well as 3HAMS merch!

About 3HAMS:
3HAMS follows Max and Ry, two friends whose bond was forged through their shared struggle with eating disorders, trapping them in a codependent relationship. In the confines of their collective brain, they must confront the uncomfortable truths of their unhealthy dynamic and what is needed to break the cycle. In the muck of it all, the greatest insight comes from an unlikely source...a literal ham.

MISSION STATEMENT:
3HAMS was born from a longing to show a more nuanced picture of life in recovery from an eating disorder. Having battled eating disorders and body dysmorphia ourselves, we were drawn to exploring friendships built on shared trauma.

The play delves into a crucial question: can the friendships that saved us during our darkest mental health struggles become the very things hindering our healing? While friends found in difficult times can be lifelines, they can also hold us back as we try to move forward.

3HAMS uses a unique blend of Clown moments interlaced with raw, honest conversations between two friends. This approach reflects the mental loops we get stuck in and the challenges of overcoming codependency, anxiety, and body dysmorphia.

The play also highlights the unique struggles of LGBTQ+ individuals with eating disorders and body dysmorphia. As queer creators, we understand these experiences first hand and it was important for us to address as these perspectives remain vastly misunderstood and underrepresented.

Eating disorders and mental illness create a complex inner world. So much of what we experience remains unseen by others. 3HAMS is our attempt to express this "inside" – a world that's not always logical but deeply emotional. It's a world that traps us but also fuels creativity. It's a world filled with both tragedy and humor, a world that both isolates and connects. This is our exploration of what this existence feels like to us and an investigation of what it takes to break a cycle.
