I have created this GoFundMe for a wonderful 36-year-old young mom of two from Lancaster who I just had the pleasure of meeting recently. Stacey Komendat is currently battling stage 2 breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy of which they found out she is actually triple positive and a portion of her tumor was Her2+ which now requires chemo and targeted therapy.
Here is her story.
Stacey is a 36 years old mom of two (4 and 18 months old) from Lancaster who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Roswell Park.
After being misdiagnosed for nearly a year (including getting a false “clear” mammogram and ultrasound months before), Stacey was finally diagnosed via MRI in December 2025. She had double mastectomy in early February and has recently started chemo. After finishing chemo, her treatment plan will continue with 9 months of targeted infusions and 5-10 years of endocrine therapy.
Stacey also works full time at UB as a graduate academic advisor. She loves spending time with her kids and husband, traveling, playing volleyball and exploring different food spots. They appreciate any support as they navigate this difficult journey.
Stacey is a strong woman but all strong women deserve support which is why I'm making this GoFundMe for her and her family.
The funds will act as a nest egg for Stacey so she can relax when she needs to, maybe take a much-needed getaway trip after chemo, and do whatever needs to be done to get through this difficult time.
If you can't donate, please share. Let's rally behind Stacey!
