Soot is 19 years old. Pepper is 9.5. Their beloved owner is now in hospice care and will not be returning home. For quite some time, these two cats were living alone in a townhouse, visited only twice a day by the owner’s sister who came in from out of town to feed them.

The sister reached out to AWLMC for help, hoping to find someone who could give these cats the care and love they deserve. A compassionate couple in our network stepped up in a big way.

Carolyn and her husband, both in their 80s, had expressed interest in adopting a cat through AWLMC. As we do with many older adopters, we gently suggested they might consider an older cat. When they met Soot and Pepper, they didn’t hesitate. Though they’d originally intended to adopt just one, they couldn’t bear to leave 19-year-old Soot behind. So they took them both.

Unfortunately, Soot and Pepper had not received vet care in quite some time and it’s become clear that both cats are in rough shape medically – kidney issues & More. Carolyn has already spent over $600 on Pepper’s initial vet visit and Soot has yet to be seen.

These cats have been through so much. Thanks to Carolyn and her husband, they now have a peaceful, loving home. We would love to ease the burden on this kind couple so they can continue to care for Soot and Pepper without having to worry about mounting vet bills.
