Help support Mikey and Evan's journey to the 2018 International 14 (i14) World Championship at Richmond Yacht Club, August 12-25!
Mikey Radziejowski and Evan Sjostedt have been racing i14s competitively for the past 10 years, both starting at young ages, crewing for various boats. Last season, through the generous support of Chris Rutz, the dynamic duo paired up with one goal in mind, winning i14 Worlds. Both sailors hold an impressive sailing resume with various national and international titles in the i14s and various other classes, including a world championship title held by Mikey at the same venue in a different class. In 2013 Evan and Mikey successfully built and campaigned a team to race in the first ever Redbull Youth America's Cup and have over 250 consecutive days on the water together and share a vast knowledge of all aspects of a successful sailing program.
The International 14 is a highly demanding class that has always been on the forefront of design and technology. With an average of 70 to 100 boats, some of the best sailors, and the infamous conditions of San Francisco Bay, the 2018 World Championships will prove to be quite challenging. In order to best prepare, Mikey and Evan, with guidance from former champions, plan on training on the Colombia River Gorge in Cascade Locks, an area often used as a training facility for Olympic sailors. The team plans on spending the entire month of July training on the Gorge in conditions that are similar and more consistent to SF Bay. From there, the team will head south and spend the rest of August training and racing.
Your support goes directly to the Sailors to help offsets the cost of food, housing, coaching, and necessary fees to make competing in the event possible. Any and every donation is greatly appreciated and brings the team one step closer to achieving their goal.
