Support Urgent Recovery Efforts after Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
Beloved artist Kathryn June is facing overwhelming and dire circumstances in the wake of unimaginable destruction of Hurricane Helene. Kathryn must urgently relocate her home and painting studio for safety and well being concerns. After a relentlessly challenging year she was facing serious financial insecurity before this natural disaster and now her situation has become tenuous if she doesn't have resources to move herself and her life's work to a more secure environment. She needs moving supplies and angel funds to make this happen. No donation is too small and every bit that can be spared is so deeply appreciated. Kathryn's art has been in my immediate living spaces for the last 20 years. Her masterful paintings and mystical creations have been an incalculable gift to my daily life.
She is a pillar of integrity facing a overwhelmingly challenging situation. Thank you so much for anything you can share.
With my deepest love and gratitude ~ Chrystabell

Kathryn is one of the lucky ones because she is alive after the catastrophic damages of Hurricane Helene. Buncombe County, where she is located, was utterly obliterated and the death toll in her small region has just climbed to 57. Power is down, no running water and extremely limited resources. Here are some pictures from her area:

Kathryn's home was fortunately on higher ground and even though her basement is underwater the rest of the home is relatively dry. Up until today she was only accessible by air but thankfully her driveway that was washed away has been fixed so she can slowly begin the moving process. So many roads in her area are inoperable and unsafe. There are significant uphill battles, but she she shared this on a Facebook (Thursday Oct 3) update:
"So much grief and so much gratitude, all at the same time. I’m so incredibly lucky / blessed. Yeah, shit is hard right now, but wow.
There are a lot of golden linings in all of this. It could have been so much worse, and the way everyone is showing up for each other… the way yall are showing up for me, is profound."

And now for a miracle update:
By the pure Grace of God Ka's painting & art studio on the second floor of THIS building....
was SPARED,
!!!!!!!!!!!!
In her words
"My studio was pristine. I couldn’t believe it. Like nothing ever happened when I opened the door. Meanwhile inches of mud were being mucked out of the bottom floor. The river is a trash disaster, everywhere water flowed is just.. devastating. "

Which means 1000's of dedicated hours to her life's work are in tact.
She didn't know if any of her art survived until today and of course she is elated in the midst all this unspeakable tragedy.

I would love to share a bit of beauty here too, so you see the miracle it is that her art lives on.

This is a very small selection of pieces that will kind of work with the specs on this website. Some paintings had to be cropped, but I wanted to give you an idea if you don't already know.

and it's a GREAT time to buy a painting!

And here is another part of her update from Oct 3, 2024:

"If you’re not in the area and want to support, sending funds directly is a lifesaver right now. FEMA money won’t come for a bit and we are still confused at the multi person home process.
Venmo : Kathryn-June (1319 if needed)
PayPal : ka@serpentfeathers.com
I think my friend is also working on a go fund me. Venmo is best coz I’m not paying fees on that, but GoFundMe can be shared widely.
Also, anything over my immediate needs will be donated to relief funds here on the ground. I am also thinking of how to raise funds through selling my paintings and using proceeds to help other artists who had their entire studios and life’s work decimated, to at least get them supplies. I heard there already programs that support effected artists, but haven’t been able to get any internet forms to load. If I’m able to raise money beyond my immediate needs I’d like to start a fund for River arts district artists. But for now. I must pack and haul things to safety. "

Thank you, all my love, Chrystabell
