Supplies needed for wildlife conservation school projects

We need funds for posters, supplies, transportation costs to reach more schools (as many as we can throughout Tanzania) and to produce a new songs about forests for the school children to learn.

Please help with whatever amount you can - even $10 or $15 will go so far in helping us reach our goal to support our ambassador, Shubert's efforts to inspire the next generation to care for wildlife & become future conservationists!

OATHS FOR NATURE

1. Background.

In Tanzania, like in many other parts in Africa, children are not taught about

wildlife, or nature conservation in general in schools, only later when they

are in secondary schools when they will opt to study such subjects. The lack

of wildlife education, especially the basics is denying the children to

understand the beauty of these amazing species and delays their passion of

becoming future conservators.

2. Response.

In responding to the nature education gap in primary schools in Tanzania,

Shubert Mwarabu, Generation Awakening Tanzania ambassador designed an

extra-curriculum activity where he visits schools for wildlife education and

after the sessions the children take oaths of becoming wildlife ambassadors.

3. The Oath

The oath goes as follows “I ……… (everyone mentions his/her name)

do solemnly swear, to be a good and committed ambassador to

protecting and conserving our natural resources flora and fauna, for

the best of my country, dear god help me.’’ And then the Chant

clapping.

4. The Impact

12 Schools in Three regions reached. 800 students/wildlife ambassadors in

schools have taken oaths. We can reach thousands more with these funds.

5. Conclusion.

We want to reach more schools in Tanzania for awareness, we want to reach

and recruit more wildlife ambassadors in schools, but with limited resources

we ca not, we need transport costs, printing of materials, wildlife posters etc

and accommodation when it is a log travel. We are receiving invitations to

reach ,more schools but we will only be able to respond when we have the

resources. If we can not groom this generation to be passionate about

conservation, then conservation will take another long time to become

successful.
