Hello everyone,
My name is Aydin Ayhan. My hometown was once the city of Van in Eastern Turkey, but I have been living in the United States for the last 50+ years.
My cousin, Affan Orhan, who lives in Van, immediately galvanized his local support system and they made their way to the site of the earthquake devastation to provide support and relief to victims, volunteers, and workers. The magnitude of the earthquake is truly unimaginable, and has claimed over 40,000 lives and displaced over 2.4 million people.
He has firsthand experience supporting relief efforts from the last earthquake that struck Van in 2011.
Affan is leading a team of volunteers to provide food, supplies, water, temporary shelters, and all other immediate needs directly to people on the ground.
He and his team are also assisting displaced victims who are being relocated to other areas in the country to find housing and clothing, receive medical attention, and address other immediate needs for families.
Any amount that you can donate will go directly towards continuing to provide this vital support to victims and their evolving needs. This is a grassroots effort led directly by my cousin, and funds will go directly to supporting victims’ needs, and will not be used towards any overhead or administrative purposes.
