Supplement a down payment for a house
Donation protected
I’ve spent my entire working life in education, teaching empathy to children so that they don’t grow up to be violent. Unfortunately, teaching empathy doesn’t pay well, and it’s tremendously hard to live in Los Angeles if you aren’t rich. Currently, I’m in a pivotal moment in life. My fiancé and I are very excited to build a future together, but we need help. A huge barrier right now is having enough funds for a down payment on a house. After clearing a down payment, our mortgage would be less than what we’ve been paying in rent.
I’ll be sharing this gofundme regularly over the next year. Please share it and/or pitch in whatever you can. If you’d like to pitch in five dollars every other week, please do! If you’re wealthy and would like to chip in a considerable amount, please be the answer to our prayers! Any support is deeply appreciated.
Thank you to everyone in advance. I’ve needed to do a gofundme before, almost 10 years ago. If it weren’t for the support I received back then, I would not have finished my UCLA social work program. I do not feel shame in asking for help – no one gets anywhere in life by themselves (especially people like myself who grew up poor, first gen, and raised by a single mom). Ultimately, what I do feel is gratitude – gratitude for people who have seen me struggle despite making all the “right” choices, and have offered a helping hand because they understand that the lack of resources one experiences in life is more due to systemic inequalities, rather than any kind of character flaw. For this awareness, and for your support, I am deeply grateful. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Javi
