"SUPPE, STEG OG IS" (THE FAMILY SUPPER) is a 25-minute art-house horror film about getting devoured by an unhealthy relationship.

SYNOPSIS

‘Suppe, Steg og Is’ follows the journey of Eva. Eva goes on a romantic birthday trip for the weekend to celebrate her boyfriend Julius. A traumatizing dinner with her in-laws

haunts their relationship, and it’s as if something unknown about Julius is hiding just below the surface.

Julius repeatedly undermines Eva’s experience with his family. and breaks his promise that she wouldn’t have to see them again when he tells her he’s invited

them for dinner. This leads to a big fight and during the confrontation, Eva

becomes unwell and collapses.

When Eva wakes up, she finds herself tied up and her world falls apart.

Not only is Julius’ family coming for dinner, Eva is what’s on the menu.

In order to survive, Eva is forced to look back on her relationship to find a way out.

But is it possible to defeat a monster without becoming one yourself?

In its essence, our film is love story. All the characters in the film want to be loved. It is that need that drives and controls them. Love and infatuation are wonderful feeling, but love can also be awful, scary and painful. They say love makes you blind and insane for a reason.

We think that that is very important to examine and acknowlge that there can be a shadow side of love. And to be aware of unhealthy and destructive relationships. Unhealthy relationships are often romanticized or celebrated in our pop cultural media.

And it's vital to have stories that portray unhealthy and destructive relationships for what they are: A horrific experience.

SUPPE, STEG OG IS (a family supper) is a story about the horror of discovering that you are in a destructive relationship. It's a tale of regaining your own power, and breaking with a love that is not good for you.
