In April 2018 my beautiful Aunt Jackie was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma A. With her being a healthy and active wife and mother with no signs of symptoms of disease, this diagnosis was extremely shocking and hard for her to accept. The oncologist was insistent that she needed to start chemotherapy right away since this type of cancer is a highly aggressive triple negative cancer. Her treatment plan includes 22 weeks of chemotherapy followed by major surgery, radiation therapy and possibly more chemotherapy after that. She will also require hormone therapy and adjuvant (oral) chemotherapy for five years thereafter.
“Chemotherapy has been difficult at times. The usual pattern is I suffer from fatigue, nausea, bone pain, headaches, “chemo brain” (thinking problems), for about eight to ten days, then I have a few days of normality and then it’s back to chemotherapy. Most of the time I keep a brave face on for my family although I have had difficult moment’s coping. Losing my hair was hard. This seemed like a bad dream until then. However, as a woman of faith, I put all of mine in the Almighty. I pray for the best outcome, and I will continue to do my part and put my trust in him.”
- Jackie
I am asking for donations from those of you willing and able to help this beautiful family. Anyone who has been lucky enough to meet Jackie and Naz, knows what beautiful, generous spirits they have. There is absolutely nothing they wouldn’t do for the people they love and they would give their last dollar to anyone less fortunate. Less than two years ago they experienced another crisis that left them with financial burden which they are still trying to recooperate from. Jackie is currently receiving disability through her employer, which will end before her treatments are over, and she is unable to work presently since her immune system is compromised. Her medical bills are steadily coming in, and the financial stress is heavy.
If you are able to help, please do so, and know that every cent in so greatly appreciated!
