Hello to all our friends and family. We want to thank everyone for all your thoughts and prayers while this little man fought for his life for the past couple of months. As most of you know, this is Spencer, aka Superspency!l He is now 3 months old and is such a beautiful and happy baby, but unfortunately he has had to face quit the battle the last couple of months. On Aug 17,2023, At 5 weeks old, Spencer had emergency open heart surgery.. Spencer’s Left ventricular outflow had an obstruction which caused him to suffer a heart attack and damage the left side of his heart. He also suffered from Aortic stenosis and Pulmonary valve stenosis, which means there was narrowing in both valves that prevented proper heart function and blood flow to the rest of his organs. During surgery, Spencer suffered an 8 minute cardiac arrest. When surgery was completed, his heart was too weak to function on his own and so he was placed on ECMO (a life support machine which provides prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.) Spency spent 5 days on life support and 9 days on the ventilator. Needless to say, this little guy is a fighter!! After 38 days in the hospital, he is now home and recovering! The doctors all call his recovery a miracle, but we believe you all played a huge role in his recovery with all your prayers!
As great as it is that he is home and recovering amazingly, unfortunately, life around us still keeps going. While Spency was fighting for his life, with his parents by his side 24/7, Spency’s dad, my son-in-law, was let go of his contract with the company he drove for. My son-in-law is one of the hardest working men I know. He is a truck driver that drives long haul and is gone for months at a time driving from state to state. My daughter and her husband built a business from the ground up and were thriving until their life came to a halt, while their new born son fought for his life. The mental and physical toll it has put on them has been more than anyone deserves, yet now the financial toll has been the topper. They are doing everything they can to get my son-in-law back on the road, but as we all know, it takes money to make money. So, I’m here to ask for your support. A small donation from many could add up to help put this family get back on top! Please share this with everyone you know so we can help make sure Spency continues to have health insurance for his weekly follow up appointments and medications he needs to keep his heart strong, and also help his daddy get back on the road so he can take care of his family! Thank you again to you all for your continued prayers and support!
