Steve has always been the kind of person who looks out for others. As a disabled veteran and an active member at the legions and food banks, he’s made it his mission to make sure no one in our valley ever goes without. Recently, his own health took a sudden and serious turn. After struggling with esophageal issues for some time, he became extremely ill—so much so that he could hardly stand. When Desjah’s brother checked on him, they rushed him to the hospital, where doctors discovered a dangerous buildup from food being stuck, which had led to a bacterial infection.

After several more appointments and tests, the family received the devastating news that he had cancer in his esophagus. Now, he’s facing a tough road ahead with a chemo port and a feeding tube, all while trying to find a safer, cleaner place to live. As a disabled vet without a job, the challenges are overwhelming, but the love and support of the community mean everything.

The funds raised will go directly toward medical bills, securing better housing, and providing daily care as he fights this battle.
