Ok so here it goes: We are just friends. Friends that know this family needs and deserves help. Friends that have been there through the good times and the horribly bad times. Lord knows they have had a rough couple years. This year it got much worse:
Mike is awaiting treatment, stemming from his brain cancer diagnosis (and brain surgery!) in May 2015. Appointments and specialists, treatments & travel are adding up...not to mention time out of work. A diagnostic test needs to be run to determine the type of cancer and thus the type of chemotherapy/radiation/proton therapy needed. The testing alone is $5,000, not to mention the traveling costs, etc. that are all rapidly adding up.
Mike and Roz....are phenomenal. There is no other way to describe them. Hilarious and kind, BRAVE and strong. When this whole debacle began, they both insisted that the other person was the strongest and bravest, which you could read on their humble Facebook posts about what was happening. That's how you know it's love. They are masters at putting one another first. Mike and Roz also have a four year old son, Jameson. He is the absolute light of their lives and such an amazing, intuitive, and special little boy. Jameson, maybe more than anyone, needs his daddy to win the fight against his cancer.
If you know Mike and Rozalyn, you know that they are two of the most generous and selfless folks out there. They show up for their people, again and again.
Now it's time for us to SHOW UP for them. Let's show the Fighting Irish (MICHAEL O'TOOLE-could there be a more appropriate name for him?!) that we can and will support his fight.
We've named this fundraiser "Superhero Brain Cancer" because Roz calls him a hero, which he is. But the way they are both handling this is as if they are Superheroes. They both possess the power to overlook the sorrow and horrifying reality of not knowing their outcome, not knowing what tomorrow holds, but smiling and knowing, with faith, that it will all be okay. They've smiled through it all and we know that with your support the smiles will continue.
Mike & Roz- we all love you dearly, beyond words. You will both be our Superheroes forever.
With Love,
Sherry Duncan Carducci & Gillian Bura
