Lo's Medical Bills

Lauren’s journey started back in September of 2006. She found herself in a bathroom stall in the John Wayne airport thinking she was coming down with the flu. However, as time went on her digestive issues began to get more and more severe. She saw doctor after doctor for about three years. She went from a strong gym going girl who weighed 130 pounds to a bedridden women weighing about 90 pounds. Her health continued to go downhill. After seeing many doctors her mother found a Holistic doctor who helped her gain weight with the form of nutrition and natural supplements. After a year of slowly gaining weight she was able to enjoy about a year of “health”. She still had no answer of why she had been so sick.

Fast-forward to 2012.

In 2012 she once again became sick. This time around Lauren became extremely sick. Any time she ate she would experience horrible stomach pains that made her double over, fatigue that set in the moment she woke up until she went to bed, running to the nearest restroom at least 15 times a day, and anytime she would go to the bathroom she would fill the toilet bowl with blood. She once again went from being 140 pounds down to 116 pounds.

In December of 2012, she had found a GI doctor that took her case seriously and immediately ordered a colonoscopy. The day before her birthday she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. After officially being diagnosed, she has been on many different medication therapies that have worked for a short period of time of have given her bad side effects, she has had many times of rushing to the ER, and has spent many of days in pain.

This year Lauren hit a low point and reached out to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio after finding out they were ranked #2 hospital in the world for GI. It has been determined that in Laurens best interest, she will be having surgery this December 3rd to have a J-Pouch. Basically in a nutshell she will be having her colon and rectum removed and given a temporary ostomy bag. The J-pouch consists of three surgeries.

Since Laurens surgery on December 2nd she came back home to Texas where she has experienced several complications. Due to her surgery she has become chronically dehydrated and because of that she has landed in the hospital three times and then had to have port surgery where she now gets fluids everyday at home. Just this past week she was transferred by ambulance from Presby Allen to Presby Dallas where she was admitted. Surgeons say she needs another surgery, but will not do it at this time due to her having a weak heart and being too skinny. Due to all that has gone on she has accumulated $6000 in just two months in medical debt .

Since surgery in December she has been in and out of the hospital due to an irregular heart beat and staph infection. She went in and they removed her port and gave her a pic line. Within just a couple weeks ago she was admitted into the hospital with a bad blood clot in her arm. Doctors started her on blood thinners which aggravated her Ulcerative Colitis and caused her to start bleeding out. They had to go in and take out her pic line and start her on a new plan. She is still very weak and is tolerating the new plan with blood thinners to help with the blood clot they're thinking will take 3 - 6m months. She has had to go on long term diabilty because she is unable to work at the moment.

Throughout this journey Lauren has accrued many medical bills and with her having to leave for Ohio for a major surgery she could really use our extra help for medical bills and fees. We appreciate all support and prayers in helping Lauren in her journey back to a healthy life.
