SUPER UW: Support Students & Community Members
Donation protected
On Monday, 5 May 2025, Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return (SUPER) occupied our university's new Boeing-funded Interdisciplinary Engineering Building, renaming it in honor of Sha'ban al-Dalou. Sha'ban was a 19 year old software engineering student who was martyred in an "israeli" airstrike of his refugee camp at Al-Aqsa Hospital last October. Sha'ban, and others like the Civil Engineers of Gaza, represents engineering for the people - engineering that builds a better world. The University of Washington, on the other hand, trains our students to work for the company that makes the bombs that have massacred tens of thousands of people in Gaza. Boeing builds weapons of war and mass destruction at the expense of our peers and would-be colleagues in Palestine. We refuse to remain willfully complicit.
Instead of engaging with students and community members, our administration called in UWPD, SPD, and state troopers dressed in riot gear to violently assault and arrest protestors. 33 people were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and many sustained injuries- from concussions to muscle injuries to nerve damage- as a result of the brutal tactics used by police and signed off by UW administration. In addition to this, 24 students have been suspended and banned from entering campus or any of its facilities, including the UW Medical Center, which has resulted in at least one student being evicted from campus housing with a one day notice.
We are asking for community support in paying legal and medical fees, as well as for living expenses for those evicted, fired, or banned from their workplaces. We also ask that if you are tight on funds, and not able to donate to both this gofundme and those of Palestinians in Gaza, that you prioritize those in Palestine.
All proceeds to this campaign will go directly to supporting our people, and any excess raised will be donated to mutual aid campaigns in Gaza.
