Always have a willing hand to help someone, you might be the only one that does.
Roy T. Bennett
Hello friends and charitable humans,
On December 17,2021 Super Typhoon Odette (Rai) decimated the island of Siargao where my YOOPER nephew, Tim (Facebook handle: Bob Duby) , lives with his family in the Philippine Islands.
For four days I asked for prayers while my family and I waited to hear if my nephew, his wife, and their 9 month old baby survived the storm . God be praised- they did!!! As did their ENTIRE Filipino family!!!! We celebrated Christmas- the joy of hope fulfilled - thankful for their safety and for all who lifted Tim, Ella, and Kai, in prayer.
Tim has been in sporadic contact with us in the last week as communication from the island is slowly restored. He reports the devastation to Siargao island is indescribable. Tim’s home and the homes of many of his neighbors no longer exist. Huts are not equipped to withstand 150-190mph wind speeds.
The people of his village are resourceful, and they are working together to remove trees from roads (side: Tim says about 50% of the island’s trees are gone and people all over the island are getting sunburned and overheating because there just isn’t any shade left), salvage what can be salvaged, and rebuild. They have no electricity, limited clean water, and very limited access to supplies as ports were damaged in the storm. The Filipino government does not have a FEMA. This village is surviving on the generosity of private citizens with resources to help. YOOPERS ARE THOSE KIND OF CITIZENS!!!! I’m not one to beg, but here I am asking please! Can you spare a buck or a few to help the people of my nephew’s village? I set the goal for $7000 because that will provide 2 days worth of direct emergency supplies while the island works to sort and fix and survive. Ella said the fishing has been fantastic since the typhoon and everyone is getting their fair share of fish. God will provide and he gives us the opportunity to do so to, for that I am grateful.
Thank you for your time and consideration, please keep the prayers coming! BABY Kai thanks you too!!!
Humbly yours,
Charlotte
