Super Student in Special Care School -
200 Laps for €200
*THANK YOU*
Update:
Our student completed the 200 Lap Challenge and was blown away by the support received!
The initial target of €200 was set in the hope of raising enough money to purchase a starter kit of bike tools for the HAY Project. As the amount raised is substantially more, in addition to basic tools, a range of comprehensive resources will be purchased to extend and enhance a programme which empowers young people with bike maintenance skills and knowledge.
On behalf of our student, Ballydowd School and the HAY Project, a sincere thank you to all who got involved and donated. Your kindness and generosity is powerful, much appreciated and has already made a lasting impact with positive ripple effects.
*THANK YOU*
This fundraiser has been created on behalf of one of the current students of Ballydowd High Support Special Care School. This is a school in a secure and therapeutic environment catering for young people between the ages of 11 and 17.
The student organising this fundraiser is a fantastic and resilient young person who began running a few laps of the campus some mornings before school. I wanted to encourage and support them with their running so together in class we came up with a challenge - for the month of March, they are aiming to run 10 laps of the grounds (2.8 kilometres) every weekday morning before school ie. 200 laps in total (10 laps x 20 mornings). I am running alongside them and some other school staff, campus staff and special guests are getting involved to show their support.
While working towards their target of 200 laps, our student is also hoping to raise €200 (€1 per lap) for an important cause of their choice. All money raised will be used to purchase essential tools and materials for bike maintenance workshops in the Helping Agatha Youth (HAY) Project in Summerhill - a community scheme which seeks to divert young people from becoming involved, or further involved, in anti-social or criminal behaviour.
Any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated and can be made anonymously. It would also be really positive for our student to receive as many messages of support and encouragement as possible. We are very proud of our student.
