As most of you know Beverly Witt was admitted to the hospital on September 6th, 2019 for an extremely painful headache. The doctors took a CT scan that showed there was a bleed in the right side of her brain caused by a hemorrhagic stroke. She was immediately sent to the ICU to be monitored and to figure out why this happened to her. In this process, she had another hemorrhagic stroke causing a bleed on the opposite side of her brain the very next day. As a result of the bleeding in her brain, she started to experience blindness in both eyes, short term memory loss and additional weakness on her left side. At one point, she couldn’t recognize certain voices or people. Throughout the process of tests and asking her basic questions she told the doctor that her children Brittney & Bethany were 5 and 6 years old and she was still living in Plano Texas(which was 22 years ago). Luckily this wasn’t permanent and after a few days she started becoming more like herself. At that time, the neurosurgeon highly suggested surgery to drain the bleed so that she had a better chance of getting her eyesight back and could live a more manageable life. The surgery restored partial vision and has helped to decrease the intensity of the headaches. Through the power of our friend’s and family’s prayers and Beverly’s strength and faith, she made it out of surgery safely. Now that the scary times have passed and we all can breathe a little lighter, reality is that the hard times have just begun.
There is a difficult road ahead for Beverly. Because she cannot afford health insurance, she has gone without it. The two rehabilitation centers we have tried to get her into will not be able to care for her due to the lack of insurance. On another note, because she is able to eat, go to the bathroom and walk(all with family, nurses or PT assistance), in the doctors eyes she is doing well enough to go home.
While she is a tough, strong woman she is still going to need help and time to integrate into her new life. It has taken a physical, mental and emotional toll on her and she is going to need more time to heal.
This go fund me page was created in hopes that we can raise money to give her a better chance at healing. She is going to be out of work for some time or not be able to return at all and we want to find a center that will be able to work with her and believe in her. She is also going to need modifications to her home, follow up doctors appointments and check ups along her long, healing journey.
Anything is possible if we believe it is so. We are asking for your help to believe in that possibility with us. We love you and are so grateful for all of you. Without your prayers, good vibes, help and support we would not be able to do this.
Together, we will conquer all.
