News a parent can't imagine...
Four year old little boys should only be worried about learning their ABCs or racing to the top of the slide. Twins should be together, and a little sister should have her big brothers to hold on to. A mommy and daddy should never have to leave their child in a hospital, balancing child care and providing for their family and the extensive medical care needed for their sick little boy.
Elma & Chris Srock’s sweet, spunky four year old Logan started getting sick in the fall. He had mysterious fevers and pain that couldn't be explained. While doctors ran tests and speculated, his parents tried to stay optimistic and busy with their three kids under age four. But the fevers kept coming back, and the family's worst fears were realized. This week, his parents received the devastating news Logan has leukemia. He is facing three years of intensive chemotherapy and treatments and many long days and nights in the hospital, away from his twin and his little sister.
Just before the diagnosis, Elma started a new job as a legal assistant. Elma has been a stay-at-home mom to their 3 children, while Chris served in the United States Air Force. In December Chris was medically retired from service; Logan knows what it is to be a hero, because he's seen it in his dad.
In the course of four days, the family went from excited about Elma going back to work to help support the family to devastated and uncertain about what the future will bring. They face unexpected bills, lost wages, childcare costs for Logan's twin Lucas and little sister Samantha, and years of uncertainty and fear.
Logan loves super heros and running outside and playing with his family. Please be a hero for Logan, and help his family be with him during this unthinkable time.
