The Sunset Elementary Community has created this Go Fund Me in support of our beloved "lunch lady", Ms. Tina Choi, who has served our community for the last 13 years (15 in the district)!! Ms. Tina's husband, Chi Wah Tang, passed away from lung cancer on 11/5/2022 after having been diagnosed in July 2021. Chi worked as a chef in a Chinese restaurant for years, doing what he loved most, cooking for other people. Ms. Tina and Chi have been married for 40 years and have three children together:

Their Son, Kin Fan Tang, lives in SF with his own family, a daughter, Weng Si Tang, who resides in Hong Kong and their youngest daughter, Weng Ian Tang, who is autistic and lives at home with Tina.

With the loss of the dual income, Ms. Tina is now faced with supporting herself as well as Weng, her adult daughter with autism who requires at-home supervision. Currently, family members help out to watch Weng when Ms. Tina is at work. When we learned that the district had cut Ms. Tina's work hours by almost 2 hours daily after she returned to work from her bereavement leave, we knew we needed to call on our community to lend a helping hand to the kind soul that reminds our kids to grab the fruit and veggies, not just the carbs, every day at school with a smile!!
