Sunset Needs Surgery
Tax deductible
Sunset, a friendly 5-month-old kitten, was originally part of a TNR project our team worked on in East Brunswick earlier this year. This sweet polydactyl (yes, this cutie has extra toes!) was later found miles and miles away in Manchester and was brought to Ocean County Animal Shelter, an animal shelter that Karma Cat + Zen Dog maintains a strong partnership with. Sunset presented with injuries consistent with being hit by a car so our shelter contacts reached out to us to see if we could take him in. We always try to be there for those who need it most, and Sunset needs the extra love and attention our team can provide. On Wednesday, he came into our care with obvious facial injuries, open wounds, and missing teeth.
For immediate medical care, we took him to NorthStar VETS to treat a concerning open wound near his bottom. Following some x-rays, we learned that he has, what appears to be, pieces of metal in his abdomen. At around 1 am on Saturday, one of our amazing volunteers bravely drove during the snowstorm to bring Sunset back to NorthStar VETS where he was admitted due to a swollen abdomen. He is still at the emergency hospital battling a fever. We’re awaiting updates from the veterinary team, however, he is in need of surgery and will likely need more medical treatment. We’re estimating his medical bills will add up to about $8,000. We are so grateful for any amount you can donate towards Sunset’s medical bills and care.
