Corinne "Sunny" Licostie was born on December 13, 1941, during a tumultuous time in the world. Her father, Jack, served in WWII and was overseas until Sunny was 4 years old. Her mother, Connie, worked as a waitress to support herself and her young daughter.

Connie died suddenly when Sunny was 13 years old, and Sunny, previously a straight A student, dropped out of school at the age of 15. Her love for learning, however, was part of her soul and she constantly sought to learn through books, films, and conversations with people. Twenty-five years after dropping out of school, Corinne was determined to get her high school diploma and enter college.

Her passion was always for those in the world who found themselves in difficult situations. She believed education, friendship, and love are the WAY to happiness.

Corinne had a light that shone through to anyone she met, and it is our hope that the light is never extinguished. We are establishing a foundation in her name to help young people who want to pursue their education and need some support. The Corinne Licostie Family Foundation Scholarship program will begin accepting applications on a rolling basis this spring.
