When rescuing a dog, you have to be prepared for any and all health complications that may occur. Lauren rescued Sunny from the side of the road in Tijuana, MX and in the short 2.5 years that Lauren has had him, Sunny has had multiple strokes of bad luck.
In April 2020, Sunny was at Kate Sessions Park and while chasing a ball rapidly down the hill, he tripped and badly hurt himself. This led to many expensive vet visits with multiple veterinarians and specialists, many of whom could not figure out what was wrong with his leg.
Finally, last week, a vet diagnosed Sunny with a torn CCL, or Cranial Cruciate Ligament. This injury has been extremely debilitating for him and Sunny constantly walks with a limp, making his quality of life poor. It's difficult for him to go potty, walk, run, sit, jump, etc; basically everything and anything that is essential in a dog's life and brings him joy.
During the months after his initial injury, Sunny had more strokes of bad luck. Not only was he suffering from doggy depression after his best friend Merlin was put down, he also had many trips to the vet himself for various reasons. During one of his walks, Sunny was bit by a venomous spider which resulted in a trip to the ER. A week after that, our poor boy was struck by a car, which also landed him in the emergency room.
Although Lauren had her heart set on taking care of her fur baby by herself, the accumulation of vet bills from the past year has hindered her financial ability to do just that.
Sunny is 2.5 years old and has so much more life to live and love to give. He is Lauren's baby. This surgery for a new knee is absolutely crucial to ensure Sunny’s quality of life is improved so he can live out the remainder of his days doing what he loves without the pain he is currently enduring. Let's get Sunny boy get back on all fours and hopefully get that stroke of luck he so desperately needs!
