"Sometimes Life just be lifin' on ya... ya know . . ??"
Hey! I'm Jessie {Jessamin} Bledsoe, and I'm here asking for help to keep a foothold after a season of misfortunate events.
Here's a little backstory 1st, though! That will be nice I spose lol!
Born, raised, and alive & thrivin' about center of Midwest Illinois, -safe to say " fair-to-middlin' " in middle of nowhere, U.S.A. Life's been good to me at the very least it's been fair as kharma and life is safe to being called!
Single-Mom of one, raised successfully and proudly to a thoughtful and motivated 20 years of age. Dylan is both the structural support of my story and the cornerstone/marker of my memory.
- Still 4 years old when I finished the Massage Therapy Program at local community Carl Sandburg College.
- First day of summer vacation the year he was 11 we drove up with my Mom at 7:00 a.m. to sign closing papers on Our 1st Home just for ourselves.
- Just a week after turning 14 y.o. he saw me opening my sole proprietorship LLC business after much deliberation for going out on my own. Finding most worries had been unfounded or quickly resolved.
Family values and beliefs with our extended family as well, have followed the idea that we help each other out whenever we can as much as we can - only 2 strings.
1. That the person is trying to better themselves and/or their situation.
2. When said person is come to a place to do so and the opportunity happens, they pay that kindness forward in helping. Same as they were granted that generosity and compassion.
I am forever grateful for the family I've been gifted to be part of from above. Dylan and I being truly blessed to have remained so close to them for him to grow up knowing and having the belief of love and support both from and to them too.
2016 I had found the perfect little-ish home for our little-ish family that had included our 1st family pup, (although 5 when we moved in! lol forever my puppy-dawg ) Buster. Who Buster-boy, having made moving into our home alone, myself 36 at the time and my 11 y.o. son, feel much more secure being both our alert system and possible 1st line of defense!
This summer has seen the end of court hearings for the Foreclosure lawsuit presented to me and being the Defendant. Finding out just a short-time too late that I did have someone willing with the ability to have saved our home in a payoff. That we now await a final redemption period when eviction attorneys are called to being involved. And really hoping like Hell (pardon the language, please ) that the payoff amount will fall within the parameters that my help is willing to go in ensuring Dylan and I still have somewhere to call home.
When telling Dylan the news of possibly losing our home he was a rock. Nonjudgmental and not accusatory at all. Immediately offering to help with any expenses he could. And immediately supportive physically with a hug and the reminder that we would be o.k. even if somewhere else turned out to be calling "home".
The start of this summer also called for another "breaking the news" of a serious nature. Dylan again, holding true to his honest compassionate nature, saying even if there's a little less of me, it's the matter of still having me that is the important piece here.
Friday, May 30th, 2025 barely still 45 years old my doctor, Dr. DeYoung removed stitches for a mole I'd had my entire life on my collar bone. After he had finished he told me the results of the labs were a "superficial spreading melanoma". This being one of the most aggressive spreading off skin cancers and mostly seen in people 65-70 + years of age.
Monday, June 16th my boyfriend and I went to a consultation appointment with Dr. Dwyer at the Canton Graham Medical Hospital per my referral. Her recommendation and the single option given for TX being a WLE [Wide Local Excision ]. This being 2 cm. out all around Dr. DeYoungs' original scar.
He had noted tissue beneath the mole having discoloration that he had taken any questionable areas visible to the naked eye to include with the area in question being sent in for the biopsy. Surface area-wise having taken 1.0 x 1.3 cm. diameter.
I have come to totally trust and appreciate life's timing of events. For all this having started because of a visit with his wife at their home. Mark having arrived toward the end of our visit, to afterward speak his concern to her which, of course, was then a message forwarded to myself. That now I consider an impromptu and unofficial Dr.'s visit for a professional opinion!
Honestly, it quite likely would have been another 6-12 months at least before I would have made the move for having it examined. That basically for the reason of not having any health insurance for being self-employed and an independent contractor. Applying for assistance I have found the factors that disqualify me are receiving back-due child support payments (Dylan now being 20 y.o. ) plus, as he still lives at home (however, now being a full-time student in an HVAC program at MTI might change some of it) his part-time income is counted toward the total household income. These pushing us above the income-level for approval for a medical card.
This summer has been non-stop in attempts of making contact with attorneys, financial counselors, legal assistance, medical providers, scheduling nurses, oncologist office intake, and medical support reps for assisting in support offerings.
A huge SHOUT OUT to my incredible clients! For their flexibility and understanding in my 1st ever ask in my bringing in and possible need to answer for having my phone present during our session. Maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise to me - yet still, my heart overflows for the genuine compassion and concern I've been shown in their unwavering support. Many have been with me since the very start of my path becoming a Massage Therapist, that now being 16 years this October! Some since this new venture in opening my office which will be as of March 2026 7 years! These measures of time seem surreal and near impossible for knowing and having in life some authentic and gorgeous souls by my side.
My schedule has been affected by all these going-ons. And I am looking forward very soon to this much needed surgery which is expected to take me off work for a predicted 3 weeks (at least ). Furthermore, in resuming I suspect some limitations in stamina and regaining strength following this time of not being as physically active as usual.
Of course, as you can imagine, bills have already begun appearing in the mailbox. More anticipated being on the way.
I'm asking for help in keeping a foothold here and in not falling behind in regular financial obligations while new financial responsibilities are adding in. My office rent is $750 alone and still some business supplies in desperate need of replacement for being consumable items. But for two, at home, where my contributions to the household are drastically reduced compared to before and soon to be not having income to contribute. All this I couldn't have predicted, and the thought of being completely dependant on Dylan and Josh to afford the entirety of household bills plus the expense of living, makes for a very slim monthly budget. Both the time up to this impending surgery and also in the recovery and recoup time following.
I am forever grateful to whatever amount anyone feels able to help in this my time of need. All the little things do add-up and are very much showing of care and love to one another in words and in deeds both. Thank You for your consideration of Generosity as well as Support in advance. Thank You for giving your time just in reading my story, your thoughtfulness and positivity alone are greatly appreciated and contribute to the energy going forward with the most positive outcome.
Sincerely,
Jessie Xo
