We would like to send a message of encouragement to Deaconess Seon Kyung Kim.

A few years ago, Deaconess Kim lost her husband to liver cancer and has since been raising her 12th-grade daughter and 7th-grade son on her own. Though she had only ever been a full-time homemaker, she remained strong through this difficult time and faithfully served the church with love—leading Bible studies and youth intercessory prayers. She is deeply loved by many.

Recently, during tests for physical symptoms, a brain tumor was discovered. She has undergone brain surgery and will begin radiation and chemotherapy treatment starting August 29. We are opening this account with the hope of easing the burden of her medical expenses, so she can focus solely on receiving the care she needs and making a full recovery.

1. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, which is aggressive. Please pray that she will have the physical strength and steadfast heart to endure the treatment process starting on August 29.

2. That God will guide every step of the treatment and restore her health completely.

3. That there will be continuous support for Deaconess Kim in getting to the hospital and caring for her children who are attending school.

4. That God will protect the hearts of Deaconess Kim, her children, and her family in Korea, and that they will experience His comfort and peace throughout the treatment.

Shalom! To the beloved brothers and sisters who are praying for our family,

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

I met with doctors at the hospital yesterday and today. My brain tumor has been confirmed as stage 4, and the cancer is described as wild and aggressive, so radiation and chemotherapy will begin early September. I had believed, through the love of the God of peace and the prayers and care of fellow believers, that my brain tumor was being healed well. But when I heard the doctors’ words, I almost let worry and fear creep in. It feels as if the devil is rejoicing, thinking this cancer will defeat me and keep me down. But I say to the devil—get away from me! The God of my salvation has not brought me to ruin. Rather, I will look to God even more, drawing nearer to Him through His Word and prayer. In this situation, I choose to focus not on fear, but on God's steadfast love and faithfulness. I have laid down the burdens of the world, and today as well, I will carry the cross of Jesus.

*Prayer request for treatment:

I will be meeting with the radiation oncologist on August 29. Starting in early September, I will undergo 6 weeks of radiation (Monday to Friday), along with oral chemotherapy. Blood tests will be done weekly. After this, there will be a 4-week rest period. Then, I will begin a cycle of “double dose” chemo: 5 days of treatment followed by 23 days of rest, repeated for about 6 months. This is a preventative treatment to stop the cancer from growing during the 17–18 hours each day when the medication is active. I have been told I will need to shave my head for this phase.

샬롬! 저희 가정 위해 기도해 주시는 성도님들께,

그런즉 너희는 하나님께 복종할지어다 마귀를 대적하라 그리하면 너희를 피하리라(약4:7)

어제와 오늘 병원 가서 의사들을 만났습니다. 제 뇌종양은 4기였고 암성격이 wild해서 aggressive 하게 빨리 9월초부터 방사선과 항암을 시작한다고 합니다. 평강의 하나님의 사랑과 성도님들의 기도와 돌봄으로 나의 뇌종양이 잘 치유 되고 있다고 믿고 있었는데, 의사들의 말을 듣고 잠시 걱정과 염려가 찾아올 뻔 했습니다. 마귀는 암으로 나를 무너뜨려서 내가 일어서지 못할 줄 알고 기뻐하고 있는듯 합니다. 마귀야 내게서 물러가라? 구원의 하나님께서 나를 넘어 뜨림이 아니시다! 나는 오히려 더 하나님을 바라며 말씀과 기도로 하나님께 더 가까이 감으로 이 상황에서 두려움보다 하나님의 인자와 신실함에 집중하겠습니다. 세상의 짐을 내려 놨으니 오늘도 예수 십자가를 지고 가겠습니다.

*치료 방법 기도 부탁드립니다.

8월29일 방사선 전문의를 만나고 9월초부터 방사선 치료 6주(월-금)을 하면서 먹는 약으로 키모를 합니다. 매주 피검사를 합니다. 4주 resting 있습니다. 그후 double dose chemo 5일과 resting 23일이 총28일 cycle로 6달정도 하는데, 하루 17~18시간 동안 암이 크지 않도록 예방치료인데 환자가 머리를 다 깍아야 한데요.
