Sungjun Song

On October 30th, we unexpectedly lost Sungjun. He was our cousin, brother, son, grandson, and friend. He was only 20 years old.

The death and loss of him is shocking and utterly devastating for our family. It is something our family is figuring out how to navigate day by day but we created this GoFundMe to help our aunt, his mom, cover for funeral and general living expenses for the foreseeable future.

Sungjun’s family immigrated to the states from Korea when he was 6. As a single mom, our aunt worked tirelessly 365 days a year alone to provide for her two kids. Over the past 15 years, she always put her children first in order to support them through school and life and did the best she could to raise them alone. She is deeply heartbroken as any parent would be by this tragedy and while she would never ask anyone for help, we are seeking out the support of our friends and family as she is their only source of income, and has not been able to run her business.

Although nothing will mend their broken hearts, we hope providing them with some financial relief and support will allow them to focus on grieving and healing.

Sungjun is survived by his mom (Heesun) and his older sister (Sungjoo).
