We recently experienced the unimaginable— we lost our baby. Cara Ray Mullaney was born sleeping after 12 hours of labour. We are heartbroken and utterly exhausted.

We were 21 weeks into our pregnancy and never thought this would be our story. It’s difficult to grasp that 1 in 3 pregnancies end in loss. Nothing can truly prepare you.

What has humbled us is the number of kind and courageous people in our lives who have walked this path too. Your openness, strength, and love have helped steady us in these first impossible days. To our friends and loved ones who’ve wrapped us in care, checked in, sat with us in silence, and held space for our grief—we are so deeply grateful. Your kindness is carrying us.

It’s a reminder of how important it is to speak openly about child loss—to acknowledge the grief, and to ensure help and understanding are there for anyone experiencing this pain.
