Hello Everyone!
I am Sumo Mike! I am 340-pound athlete from Hayward, CA. I have moved all over Northern California from San Jose, Fremont, to Sacramento. I just received word that I qualified for the US Sumo team to compete at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland in 2017! It is very much like the olympics, where it is held once every 4 years, and it is a multi sport event!
Here are my most recent matches:
It is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I really need your help! I missed out on the Sumo World Championships this year in Mongolia due to injury, but luckily opportunity has come knocking again!
I have been an elementary school teacher for 5 years and I have dedicated my life to teaching others and helping people achieve their goals.
One of my goals growing up was to become a professional athlete.I played many sports growing up, and did quite well. However, due to extenuating circumstances, I felt I never really got an opportunity to make it. It is something I have always regretted. I started sumo a few years ago because I still had that desire to make it to a level where I am competing on the world stage, and this is my big chance!
Unfortunately, sumo is still a growing sport in the United States, so there is very little funding for the athletes. I have to personally fund my trip to Poland, and I am hoping all of you can help me with that journey.
All of the funds will go to flight, hotel, and food. I am a sumo wrestler, so I need lots of food, but I will try and keep it to a minimum =)
Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to read this. I truly appreciate it!
