Summit Academy Playground

** Due to a Private Donation the Goal level has been adjusted to a lower amount** I remember going to school as a little girl always excited for the most important part of the day which happened to be my favorite subject - RECESS! The monkey bars, slides, swings, uneven bars, four square, hopscotch, tires, tetherball, ALL of it just waiting for us kids to converge to let off all of built up energy in 15-30 minutes of frenzied playtime! Man I loved that time of day...it was clearly the best part of my day. Yet I never looked at it as dangerous or scary, to me it was just fun! I never feared the sound of the tetherball chain wrapping around the metal pole, the heat of the metal bars that had baked in the morning sun, the echo of the balls bouncing on the blacktopped pavement....because I didn't have a sensory disorder. I never even knew such a thing existed until my 2 yr old son was diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Disorder, and Global Learning Disability. Tristan attends a school for children on the Spectrum, a school that has taught him how to speak, how to interact with others and how to live in a world that is too loud, too bright and too scary for him. Yet the one thing they have been unable to teach him is that there are areas called playgrounds, where he can touch, feel and run off all the pent up energy that lives within him every minute of everyday. You see they don't have one, because the average playground is not designed for those on the Spectrum.....but that is going to change! This gofundme is for the Summit Academy to make it possible to install a Sensory friendly playground for the children that live with this disorder. Through the help of those at the event Sasnak City this past weekend, and the amazing generosity of the talent, we raised $4,395.00 of my $7,000.00 goal for the event! What an incredible amount of generosity was shown by the attendees, I am still so very humbled by you all. When I spoke to the school about it I asked how close we were to target to make it happen...with the Sasnak City donations we are only short $9,600.00 to complete the installation. **note the goal has been adjusted for GFM fees** I want to thank all of you for considering making a donation, you never know how many lives you will change through your kindness! Much love to all- Gina
