Summer’s Memorial Fund for her children
My wonderful amazing sister, Summer Schmitz, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on August 15th, 2021. The diagnosis came just hours after Summer and her husband Jeff welcomed twin boys, Zander and Griffin, prematurely into the world. The boys were born at 34 weeks and are in the NICU but doing well. We are all grappling with feeling a mix of overwhelming Joy at the birth of these beautiful boys and overwhelming grief over Summer’s diagnosis.
AML is the most aggressive form of leukemia. Not wanting to waste any time, Summer was started on chemotherapy the very next day. She will need to stay inpatient for a minimum of 4 weeks while receiving chemo and building her immune system back up. The couple also have a 2 year old daughter, Finley Joy, who I’m sure can’t wait to have her mama back! We all are in a state of shock at this diagnosis and trying to make sense of the situation. Right now Summer needs your prayers for healing. Please consider making a donation to alleviate unexpected finances and/or share this page to support Summer and her family during this difficult time.
*all donated funds are directly managed by Summer and Jeff.
